P Lodge is a Tier 4 CAMHS Hospital providing specialist eating-disorder services for young people aged 13–18 who require inpatient care.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

To maintain a high standard of nursing care within the unit, provide a supportive therapeutic environment for patients, and supervise care staff with effective professional leadership.

Key Result Areas

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care within the therapeutic model of the unit
    • Coordinate assessment, planning, implementation & evaluation of patient care
    • Focus on risk assessment and risk management
    • Supervise junior nurses, care staff & preceptees
    • Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
    • Ensure Senior Nurses are informed of any key decisions
    • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
    • Conduct assessments agreed by the MDT
    • Maintain accurate patient records
    • Organise admissions, leave and discharges
    • Help design and evaluate individual patient programmes
    • Lead functional skills assessments and development programmes
    • Contribute to therapeutic daily activities
    • Assist in situations requiring physical intervention (e.g., supported feeding)

Financial Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial procedures for patient money and unit petty cash
    • Comply with all financial control policies
    • Promote the hospital positively in the local community

Administrative / Training

  • Follow all unit policies and procedures
    • Ensure safe handling, storage & administration of medication
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nursing practices and NMC standards
    • Attend in-service training and external courses
    • Ensure all statutory training requirements remain current

Professional Requirements

  • Perform clinical procedures competently
    • Immediately report any deviation from clinical standards
    • Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team
    • Maintain knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct & standards
    • Understand and work within Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards
